How I feel when I'm around you - Ch.7

«Good morning» Daron yawns coming in the kitchen.
«Good morning to you, sleepyhead!» I answer, sitting at the table and having breakfast; Serj waves, too busy eating to talk.
«How can you be so spry in the early morning?» he mutters back, sitting and fighting to keep his eyes open.
«Are you blind? When did you see me being spry?» I laugh, trying not to choke myself with the food «I'm just in a good mood, but it doesn't necessarily mean I'm peppy.»
«Share your joy with me so I'll rejoice with you» he says, pointing his elbows on the table, with his heads between the hands.
«I will, but we have to wait for John to join us.»
«Okay, got it, wait here, I'll call him» Daron jumps up and goes towards the stairs but stops near there.
«Dolmayan, report!» he shouts, as if he's a general calling a soldier.
Ten seconds later we hear the drummer's voice coming from upstairs and muttering something while he goes down the stairs.
«I can't have privacy and peace anymore even at the bathroom» he grumbles, pouting.
«Sorry, but there's a good news for everyone and you were the only one missing» the other blinks, trying to be cute and make John's pout go away «and after all you were taking the risk of not having your bacon, Shavo and I could eat your portion...»
«Umpf... it's okay, you annoying midget have my forgiveness» the bigger one smiles. «C'mon, what's the good news?»
«Yesterday I met Nikki in a bar» I start my speech, readjusting myself on the chair «and I asked Serj to come, so we talked to her and made her that famous offer.»
«And... ?» John stares at us, anxious to hear the answer.
«She said yes» Serj continues.
Suddenly Daron chokes himself and coughs furiously, Serj reaches him and does a certain maneuver that makes him stop coughing just before his face becomes bluish.
«W-well, I'm happy about this» he croaks, still trying to regain breath.
«Me too!» John smiles. «Problem solved! At least one...»
«And now we've got to figure out who's going to the shop where she works to talk with her boss and make some arrangements, since she's going to not work there for some time because of this new task we've given her... at least if he has to cashier her we'll ask him to give her the remaining part of her pay for this last period of work, so she won't be broke» Serj goes on, while putting the breakfast plates and mugs in the sink.
«Good. Who's going?» Daron asks, curious.
«Does someone volunteer?»
«Uhm...»
Dead silence.
«John, do you want to go?» Serj says to the drummer.
«What? No, no» he answers, slightly drawing back.
«We need someone who's "diplomatic" since we don't know how the girl's boss is» I suggest.
«Okay, it's better if I go» the singer sighs «it always ends like this, I'm the diplomatic here!»
«But you are!»
«Pfff, pretences!»
«I'm going with you» I add.
«Perfect.»
We go upstairs and get ready in a few minutes for our "mission", hoping that the thing will be easy.
«Guys, wait a moment! I've got an idea!» John stops us in front of the door.
«You're dangerous as much as Daron... c'mon, tell us.»
«What about inviting Nikki here to spend Christmas with us?»
«Great idea! We'll tell her.»
«What the fuck?!»
Daron's voice comes from the upper floor.
«Nikki! Home! Christmas!» John screams, carefully articulating every word.
Suddenly the guitarist appears in our sight and stares at us with a grim look. «You're evil geniuses!» he comments and bursts out laughing.
«How witty! Do you have some ideas for the present? It wouldn't be nice to invite her and not make her a present» John says, thoughtful.
«Yup!» Daron says, then disappears and appears again in a few seconds, holding his new headphones in a hand.
«There are headphones that are almost the same I have at the shop where Nikki works, but they're black with silver details. Buy them pretending they're for someone else and "Nikki's Christmas present" mission is completed!»
«Oh, okay, but how much they cost?»
«Well, they're not very cheap, it's better to share the cost. Is it okay?»
«Yep! Good boy! You gnome are being very useful lately...»
«The gnome will beat your asses if he catches you!»
«Let's go before this happens...» I say, pulling Serj with me out of the door.
